Edinburgh Lectures 2014
‘City, Community, Home’
Welcome from the Rt Hon Donald Wilson
Lord Provost of Edinburgh
This year’s theme ‘City, Community, Home’ reflects on a year in which Scotland will showcase the best this country has to offer as it welcomes the world to its shores. With the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and an exciting programme of events planned throughout the year, visitors and locals alike will come together to celebrate this nation’s vibrant cultural and rich ancestral heritage.
Talks will range from the global impact of the Scottish people over the centuries to what lies in store for our cities in the future
As a teacher and a local politician, caring for future of the city and its communities is at the heart of my motivation. This ethos drives the work that I do to support Edinburgh’s decade as a Fair Trade city, the city’s homeless and its diverse communities. As the Honorary President of the One City Trust, which promotes social inclusion, I am delighted to welcome their support for the Edinburgh Lectures.
